Job description

Harbinger has partnered with a large and Growing Real Estate development company and are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Project Accountant. This is a full-time, onsite role where you will oversee and manage the financial aspects of multiple development projects from pre-construction through completion. The ideal candidate will bring strong project accounting experience, preferably in the real estate or construction sector, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is a 5 days in office role in the Lawrence and Eglington Area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and timely financial records for multiple residential development projects

• Prepare monthly project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses

• Monitor and reconcile job cost reports, budgets, and actuals using Jonas software

• Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure financial accuracy

• Assist in preparation of draw packages for lenders and maintain compliance with financing agreements

• Review and process vendor invoices, progress draws, and change orders

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals

• Support preparation of financial statements and reports for internal stakeholders and external partners

• Liaise with auditors and respond to financial inquiries as required

• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting procedures and controls

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 3–5 years of progressive project accounting experience, preferably in real estate development or construction

• Experience with Jonas Construction Software is strongly preferred

• CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset

• Proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
