Job summary

EllisDon is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to lead the Project Accounting team, supervising 2+ direct reports and ensuring accurate reporting of project costs and revenues across multiple projects.

You will help develop project CBS, manage budgets and forecasts, and produce variance analyses while collaborating with Operations and the General Accounting team. This on-site role requires 5–8 years of accounting experience, a related degree, strong Excel skills, and CISD clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in ICI Construction.
• Degree or diploma in a related field; AACE accreditation(s) considered an asset.
• Experience with contract types (Unit Rate, Cost-Reimbursable, T&M (LEMS), Provisional Sums, Lump Sum).
• Strong Excel skills and data analysis capabilities.
• Eligible for CISD Secret Level Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain project data (budgets, forecasts, quantities, cost codes).
• Produce variance reporting (Cost/Revenue Accruals, Budget Moves, Quantity Claiming).
• Understand key contractual information relating to assigned projects.
• Support Operations with cash flow forecast development.
• Collaborate with Operations and General Accounting for Month End reporting.
• Provide project insights for decision-making in cross-functional teams.
• Other tasks as assigned.

You As a Senior Project Accountant Will

• You will be a lead member of the Project Accounting team responsible for the supervision of 2 or more direct reports.
• Responsible for facilitating the accurate and timely reporting of project cost and revenue.
• Support Operations with the timely development of the project CBS.
• Enter and maintain project data. (Budgets, forecasts, qty’s, cost codes, etc.)
• Produce variance reporting (Cost Accruals, Revenue Accruals, Budget Moves, Quantity Claiming, etc.)
• Understand key contractual information relating to assigned projects.
• Support Operations with the development of accurate and timely cash flow forecasts.
• Collaborate with Operations and the General Accounting team to ensure accuracy of Month End Reporting.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to provide project insights for decision-making.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Is this the right role for you?

• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant accounting experience preferably in ICI Construction.
• Degree/Diploma in a related field. AACE accreditation(s) considered an asset (e.g. CCT, CPP).
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of contract types (Unit Rate, Cost-Reimbursable, T&M (LEMS), Provisional Sums, Lump Sum).
• You have the ability to correctly identify financial situations and produce logical solutions to support a project team/business area.
• You possess strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Explorer Eclipse ERP and B2W Estimate/Track software is an asset
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
• You demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills as well as a keen willingness to work independently and on-site at project locations.
• You demonstrate the ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and can manage tight deadlines.
• Must have or be eligible for CISD Secret Level Clearance.

The proposed salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000.
