Job summary

Graham is seeking a Senior Project Accountant / Operations Accountant to support the Buildings Construction Division in Mississauga. You will oversee end-to-end accounting for project portfolios, including close, billing, and compliance, while partnering with Operations on bids and contract administration.

Reporting to the Operations Finance Controller, you will manage cash flow, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and audits.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of project accounting experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • Advanced ERP proficiency (SAP preferred), with experience supporting audits, compliance, and system/process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead transactional accounting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and month-end close.
  • Manage subtrade contracts, owner billings, Accounts Receivable, collections, and change order reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, tax, and regulatory requirements, lead audits.
  • Prepare and analyze cash flow, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and support budgets and monthly reviews.
  • Partner with Operations on project setup, bids, and contract administration while driving system and process improvements.

Graham is actively recruiting a Senior Project Accountant / Operations Accountant to support the Buildings Construction Division (including projects in Long-Term Care, Post-Secondary, Recreation/Arenas, Manufacturing, Defence and Healthcare). Reporting to the Operations Finance Controller, this role provides end-to-end accounting and financial support for the portfolio of building projects, including project controls, reporting, budgets, and forecasts.

Your Role in Building What Matters - From Office to Site
  • Project Accounting & Close - Lead transactional accounting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and month-end close.
  • Contracts, Billing & Account Receivable - Manage subtrade contracts, owner billings, Account Receivable, collections, and change order reconciliations.
  • Compliance & Audits - Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, tax, and regulatory requirements, lead audits.
  • Financial Reporting & Cash Flow - Prepare and analyze cash flow, Account Receivable, Account Payable, and support budgets and monthly reviews.
  • Operations Partnership & Process Improvement - Partner with Operations on project setup, bids, and contract administration while driving system and process improvements.
The Right Tools for the Job
  • Education & Credentials: Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • Experience: 8+ years of relevant project accounting experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Skills & Systems: Advanced ERP proficiency (SAP preferred), with experience supporting audits, compliance, and system/process improvements.
Compensation
  • Salary Range $90,000 to $110,000 per annum
  • Compensation aligned to education and experience, ensuring fair and competitive placement
  • Three to five weeks of vacation, with additional credit for prior industry experience
