Role Description

The Senior Programmer develops, maintains, and manages complex research and business applications and databases within BCCHRI. Responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, debugging, deploying, documenting, training, supporting, and maintaining software applications according to user requirements and departmental standards. You will be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Support software coding functions, business rules, and user interfaces using approved methodologies and technologies.
• Perform testing, debugging, and maintenance, including quality assurance and documentation.
• Manage version control and deployment of software builds.
• Create prototypes for review and approval.
• Maintain backend supporting applications such as databases and application servers.
• Identify and troubleshoot network and application issues.
• Research and recommend new technologies and tools.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science, with two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize work, operate related equipment, and physically carry out duties.

Additional Assets

• Knowledge of Indigenous issues, anti-racism, and cultural safety initiatives, including relevant legislation and frameworks.
