Job description

Our client is a leading global organization with a significant corporate real estate and capital projects portfolio across Canada and the United States. They are looking to appoint a Senior Program Manager to provide strategic leadership across construction governance, portfolio management, project controls, and operational transformation.

This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who understands complex corporate real estate environments and can operate comfortably between executive leadership, project teams, internal stakeholders, and external service providers across a North American portfolio.

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening governance frameworks, improving portfolio visibility, and driving consistency across a large-scale capital program spanning Canada and the U.S.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership across governance, portfolio management, project controls, and operational initiatives supporting a large-scale North American capital project portfolio.
  • Develop and implement governance frameworks, approval processes, reporting standards, and decision-making protocols across construction and capital programs in both Canada and the United States.
  • Partner with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders across North America to provide clear visibility into project performance, risks, financials, approvals, and key decisions.
  • Establish and continuously improve PMO operating models, tools, processes, and reporting structures to create greater consistency across the portfolio.
  • Lead strategic initiatives designed to improve project delivery, operational effectiveness, accountability, and organizational performance.
  • Oversee governance across procurement, financial controls, compliance, capital planning, and project delivery.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external service providers across Canada and the U.S. to establish performance expectations, strengthen accountability, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify project and portfolio-level risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting, dashboards, and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across different business units, geographies, and functional teams.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously, ensuring alignment with broader corporate objectives.
  • Drive standardization of processes, governance, reporting, and best practices across the North American portfolio while accounting for differences in local market requirements.
  • Act as a senior point of escalation for complex project, governance, financial, and delivery issues.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • 10+ years of experience within corporate real estate, construction, capital projects, PMO, project controls, or program management.
  • Proven experience working across a North American portfolio, ideally with responsibility spanning both Canada and the United States.
  • Experience working within a large, complex organization with a significant capital project portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of construction governance, project controls, capital planning, procurement, and project delivery.
  • Proven experience developing or improving PMO frameworks, governance structures, reporting processes, and operating models.
  • Experience managing complex programs across multiple locations, business units, and stakeholder groups.
  • Comfortable working with senior executives and presenting complex information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate across highly matrixed organizations.
  • Experience working with external service providers, consultants, construction partners, and project management firms.
  • Highly analytical and commercially minded, with the ability to understand portfolio-level financial and operational data.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, project controls, governance, and executive reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to bring structure and clarity to complex programs.
Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a sophisticated corporate real estate environment and take ownership of enterprise-level construction governance and program management across North America.

The role will have significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence how major capital projects are governed, reported, and delivered across Canada and the U.S.

For the right individual, this is an opportunity to step into a highly visible position where they can shape governance, project delivery standards, portfolio reporting, risk management, and service-provider performance across a complex North American real estate portfolio.
