Job summary

CF Industries is seeking a Superintendent, Process Safety & Environmental to lead the process safety and environmental teams at the Medicine Hat Complex. The role focuses on safe, reliable operations and environmental stewardship, reporting to the Manager, Environment, Health & Safety (EHS).

You will champion CF’s EHS culture, develop comprehensive safety programs, and collaborate with facility leadership to ensure robust implementation of safety and environmental practices that protect people

Qualifications

• PEng designation or ability to obtain.
• 5–10 years of increasing responsibility and people leadership.
• Environmental or Process Management Engineering experience preferred.
• Industrial plant setting experience is an asset.
• Leadership, Time Management, and Decision‑making skills.
• Coaching and training abilities.
• Judgment and problem‑solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the process safety and environmental teams, including resource allocation and performance evaluation.
• Promote and develop CF’s EHS culture and programs.
• Develop and implement comprehensive process safety programs meeting regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with facility personnel to ensure effective implementation of safety and environmental controls.
• Provide EHS mentorship and training to staff to achieve an incident-free workplace.
• Identify environmental improvement opportunities, such as GHG reductions.
• Coordinate cross-departmental safety elements (contractor safety, MOC/PSSR, PHA/LOPA, procedures, integrity).
• Recommend improvements to facility leadership when gaps are found.
• Administer safety and environmental policies, procedures, budgets, and cost management.
• Maintain relationships with regulators and inform CF of proposed regulations.
• Support audits and drills; assist during turnarounds and outages.
