Job summary

Carbon60 is seeking a Senior/Principal Solutions Architect to lead an advisory engagement for a Public Sector client in Ontario. This contract role focuses on assessing the client’s current technical environment, team structure, and cloud operating model, to shape secure, scalable recommendations for executives.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in technology with cloud strategy and enterprise architecture, plus strong advisory and governance experience.

Qualifications

• Active Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance (Must)
• 10+ years in technology with cloud strategy, transformation, and enterprise architecture (Must)
• Proven experience in operating model assessment and design
• Strong background in enterprise architecture or technical advisory, ideally in a consulting capacity
• Extensive experience with cloud security, governance and compliance
• Demonstrated ability to assess complex technical environments and translate findings into strategic recommendations
• Excellent communication and executive presentation skills

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior / Principal Solutions Architect to lead an advisory engagement for a PublicSector client. In this role, you'll assess the Client's current technical environment, team structure, andCloud operating model, then shape recommendations for a secure, scalable, and sustainable futurestate.

This is a strategic assessment role, not an implementation role. Your work will directly informexecutive decisions, so you need to be equally comfortable digging into technical detail andpresenting clear, defensible recommendations to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the client's current technical environment, including infrastructure, applications,integrations, and cloud footprint.
• Assess team structure, roles, governance, and the current operating model.
• Evaluate cloud readiness and identify risks, gaps, and dependencies.
• Benchmark the client's practices against leading cloud operating models and industryframeworks (e.g., AWS/Azure/Oracle Cloud Adoption Frameworks, Well-Architected, FinOps, Cloud Centre of Excellence models).
• Develop recommendations and a roadmap for a secure, scalable, and sustainable future-statecloud operating model.
• Produce executive-ready deliverables (current-state assessment, gap analysis, target operatingmodel, prioritized recommendations) and present findings to senior stakeholders.
• Facilitate stakeholder interviews and workshops across technical and business teams.

Required Qualifications

• Active Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance (Must)
• 10+ years in technology, with significant experience in Cloud strategy, Cloud transformation,and enterprise architecture (Must).
• Proven experience in operating model assessment and design.
• Strong background in Enterprise architecture or technical advisory, ideally in a consulting capacity.
• Extensive experience with Cloud security, governance and compliance
• Demonstrated ability to assess complex technical environments and translate findings intostrategic recommendations.
• Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Cloud (OCI and/or Oracle Fusion SaaS).
• Experience with ERP or HR/Payroll systems in large enterprise or government settings.
• Government or public sector transformation experience, ideally with Canadian federal or provincial clients.
• Relevant certifications, such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure/OCI Professional-level architect, or GoogleProfessional Cloud Architect.
• Familiarity with Government of Canada cloud guardrails, security frameworks (e.g., ITSG-33),and data residency requirements.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of the engagement, the client has a clear, evidence-based view of their current state, anunderstanding of their key risks and gaps, and a practical, prioritized roadmap toward a target cloudoperating model that their executives can act on.
