Job summary

Colliers Project Leaders in Canada is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to join our Construction Solutions team. You will dig deep into design and constructability options to help optimize your client's projects.

You will bring hands-on experience in design, cost estimating and construction to the owner’s side of the table to provide real-time feedback throughout the planning, design, and construction phases to minimize risks and maximize value.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in engineering or architecture with construction industry experience.
• 5–10 years of progressive preconstruction experience in design, cost estimating and construction.
• Professional Engineering or Architecture qualifications preferred; PMP preferred or willingness to obtain within one year.
• Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and permit requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and design details.
• Knowledge of trades relevant to commercial, industrial and civil construction.
• Experience with government regulations and MS Office / Google tools; knowledge of MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Provide preconstruction leadership to deliver value-based design and constructability options for projects across Canada.
• Engage in design meetings with owners, architects and engineers to optimize cost, schedule, quality and constructability variables.
• Review drawings and specifications with constructability, value engineering and sequencing input.
• Prepare and lead the development of Construction Management Plans to support permitting and site logistics.
• Lead design-assist teams of trade contractors and consultants for efficient sequences in occupied facilities.
• Provide construction management support to owners and developers with trade procurement and Procore implementation.
• Assist industrial clients with equipment integration into base buildings and feasibility studies.
• Conduct regular site visits during preconstruction and construction phases and document findings.
• Participate in business development and proposals to grow the client base.
• Maintain project budgets and ensure compliance with internal Quality Management System.
• Mentor staff and provide leadership across all assigned projects.
• Utilize tools like RSMeans Online, Procore, cmBuilder, SketchUp, HoloBuilder, Drones, BuildingConnected and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
