Job summary

Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a Senior Power Applications Engineer to design and develop advanced power network applications that optimize and control electrical grids.

You will help utilities and energy markets analyze power flow, contingencies, and real-time control while collaborating with engineers, developers, and customers on scalable, high-performance software solutions. The role requires expertise in power systems, strong programming skills, and familiarity with Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Expertise in power network applications and control systems.
• Strong programming skills in high-performance software development environments.
• Experience with power system software used by utilities or energy markets.
• Familiarity with Linux or similar operating systems and strong analytical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer engineering, business, and software requirements.
• Design and develop advanced power network applications.
• Support network modeling, power flow, and contingency analysis solutions.
• Perform software testing, integration, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot issues and support product releases.
• Research emerging technologies and advancements in power systems.
