Peoples Group is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to design and operate a robust data platform across Canada. You will build infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and secure, observable systems that support data engineers and business partners.

The role emphasizes reliability, cost awareness, and collaboration with security and engineering teams. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in platform roles, strong Terraform and Kubernetes experience, and a track record of production-grade

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Platform, DevOps, or SRE roles with greenfield platform build.
• Teems with Terraform at scale, including module design and drift control.
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes including RBAC and upgrades.
• Proven CI/CD pipelines as a shared platform (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions).
• Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with storage, serverless, databases, IAM.
• Observability with meaningful SLOs, alerting and dashboards.
• Security-focused design for platforms handling sensitive data.
• Strong scripting in Python or Go.
• Experience with data tooling like Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, Kafka is a plus.
• Knowledge of policy-as-code (OPA, Sentinel) is a plus.
• Cost management on consumption-based clouds a plus.
• Experience in financial institutions or regulated environments a plus.
• AWS/Azure certs are assets.
• Postmortems that changed team operations.
• Clear written and verbal trade-off explanations for engineers and non-tech stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and run the data platform, with IaC and reusable modules.
• Build CI/CD golden paths so data engineers ship safely.
• Automate provisioning, access management, and platform changes.
• Own platform availability, HA, DR, and capacity planning.
• Define SLOs, monitoring, and alerting across storage/compute.
• Participate in on-call rotation and lead blameless postmortems.
• Secure platforms with access control, encryption, and data masking.
• Make data teams faster by reducing friction and improving developer experience.
• Review designs and provide platform reliability input.
