CANARIE seeks a Senior Platform Engineering Specialist to lead evolution of cloud infrastructure automation and governance, ensuring a reliable, scalable platform for containerized applications and services.

This full-time role reports to the Manager, Software Development. Salary ranges from $125,000 to $169,000 CAD annually, reflecting CANARIE’s role in Canada's National Research and Education Network.

Qualifications

College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a suitable combination of education, experience, or other relevant training.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in DevOps/Platform Engineering
Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD automation with operational support (monitoring/alerting) of hosted services
Experience architecting, building, and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure (Private cloud, and AWS or Azure) using IaC tools like Terraform/OpenTofu.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain platform infrastructure for high availability applications that power CANARIE's networking, cybersecurity, and identity management services.
Define platform direction, set standards and align with business goals.
Drive optimization and ensure platform uptime and scalability.
Guide and mentor teams and champion modern practices.
Collaborate with Development, IT, and Security teams to deliver robust, observable solutions.
Travel may occasionally be required.
Other related duties and responsibilities as required.
