• Have more than 6 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Post-secondary education and CIP designation.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and negotiate high risk/complexity renewals, policy endorsements and new business.
• Identify positive and negative trends in submissions and communicate findings to management.
• Negotiate terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers in writing, by telephone, email or in person.
• Order inspections or other underwriting information for analysis of critical risk hazards.
• Use underwriting knowledge to recommend rate structure/pricing changes and underwriting or claims improvement.
• Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through accountability and decision making.
• Build professional networks at Heartland and industry events.
• Ensure corporate governance and regulatory compliance policies and procedures.
• Participate in training and development initiatives.
• Use policy wordings to assist staff and distributors with risk analysis and sales.
• Provide guidance and training to staff where underwriting authority requires referral to higher levels to ensure compliance.
