Job summary

Downtown Eastside Women's Centre seeks a Peer Support Supervisor to oversee the Shelter Program, coordinating and supervising Peer Support staff to meet contract requirements and the centre's mission in Vancouver. The role requires collaboration with the Shelter Manager and other DEWC staff, applying trauma-informed care and feminist, anti-oppression principles.

The incumbent will manage HR matters in absence of the Manager and promote integrated services for women, with a focus on supporting

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience (preferable in a unionized environment).
  • Ability to promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of DEWC.
  • Knowledge of issues impacting women in the DTES, including gender-based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions with trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to work and support staff in a busy, crisis-driven environment with multiple demands and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills including record keeping and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Shelter Program through planning, coordinating, scheduling, supervising, and directing Peer Support staff.
  • Ensure services meet contract requirements and DEWC philosophy and mandate.
  • Coordinate with Shelter Manager on HR matters and acting in absence of manager.
  • Promote peer support principles and integrated services for women.
  • Work from a feminist perspective within an anti-oppression framework.
