Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist/Manager to lead full-cycle payroll for Canadian and international employees, with UK coordination through third-party providers. The role focuses on compliance, reporting, and accurate deductions.

The candidate will support year-end processes, audits, and HRIS testing, while maintaining payroll records and solving compensation questions. Strong Excel and payroll systems knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience.
• International payroll exposure.
• Senior or supervisory-level payroll experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and UK payroll legislation and taxation requirements.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Strong payroll systems knowledge.
• ADP Workforce Now experience preferred.
• PCP or CPM designation preferred.
• Bachelor's degree/certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Remain current on payroll legislation across applicable jurisdictions.
• Support payroll and HRIS testing, upgrades, and process improvements.
• Complete year-end payroll activities including T4s, W-2s, and UK reporting.
• Support internal and external payroll audits.
• Complete ad hoc analysis and payroll projects.

About the Opportunity

Benefits, RRSP & LTIP

• Manage RRSP, taxable benefits, and other payroll deductions
• Administer LTIP-related payroll activities
• Support Shareworks activities, dividends, memos, and taxable benefit calculations
• Process benefits-related taxable amounts through payroll

Reconciliation & Reporting

• Prepare quarterly payroll reports for management and Finance
• Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Partner with Finance during month-end close
• Track and reconcile labour budgets

Compliance & Employee Support

• Maintain payroll records for audits and internal controls
• Respond to employee questions regarding compensation, deductions, and taxes
• Remain current on payroll legislation across applicable jurisdictions

Systems & Year-End

• Support payroll and HRIS testing, upgrades, and process improvements

About You

• 5+ years of payroll experience
• International payroll exposure
• Experience in a senior or supervisory-level payroll capacity preferred
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and UK payroll legislation and taxation requirements
• Strong understanding of benefits, STIP, LTIP, and taxable benefits
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Strong payroll systems knowledge
• ADP Workforce Now experience preferred
• PCP or CPM designation preferred
• Bachelor's degree/certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or related discipline

Pay Range

$110,000 - $120,000 per year

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
