Job summary

Orica Canada inc. is seeking an experienced Sr. Payroll Officer to own the payroll process for employees across Canada, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Orica requirements and local legislation.

You will support Payroll Officers, provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders, and serve as escalation point for payroll system issues and inquiries. This is a newly created position offering hybrid work with a minimum onsite presence.

Qualifications

• More than 5 years of payroll processing experience in Canada.
• Knowledge of Dayforce payroll system.
• Bilingual in English and French is mandatory for all Canadian employees.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of payroll data and coordinate with external service providers to support accurate and efficient payroll delivery.
• Administer offline payroll data and processes, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
• Provide responsive, customer-focused support while building trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
• Interpret payroll legislation and provide clear, practical guidance to internal clients.
• Participate in payroll and business improvement projects as required.
• Provide guidance on leave management and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Manage payroll-related service requests and act as escalation point for complex inquiries.
• Administer payroll-related benefits as required.
• Support year-end payroll processes and reporting as required.
• Prepare accurate regular and ad hoc payroll reports to support business needs.
• Support Payroll Officers in interpreting legislation and providing accurate guidance.
• Manage payments for employees on international assignments.
• Collaborate with Regional Payroll Lead to monitor system change requests.
