Job description

Are you a seasoned payroll professional ready to take on a senior role in a complex, high-volume environment? As a Senior Payroll Administrator at Ledcor, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of full-cycle payroll across multiple frequencies — working with our in-house ERP system (JD Edwards) to support salary, hourly, union, and non-union payrolls across multiple jurisdictions. Reporting to the Team Lead, Payroll, you will bring a minimum of four years of payroll experience, strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and multi-jurisdictional compliance, and the technical depth to manage reconciliations, tax remittances, and time entry escalations. You will also serve as a knowledge resource for junior team members, sharing best practices and supporting resolution of complex payroll issues. Come and join the True Blue team and build your career with one of Canada's most established construction companies.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Process full-cycle payroll for salary, hourly, union, and non-union employees using JD Edwards (JDE), ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple payroll frequencies and jurisdictions
  • Prepare, reconcile, file, and remit monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory payments to government agencies (CRA, WCB, EHT, and others) in accordance with federal and provincial requirements
  • Administer payroll reconciliations and journal entries on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, maintaining accurate General Ledger records in alignment with accounting principles
  • Collaborate with work sites to ensure accurate and timely submission of time entry data across time capture systems (PCS2, InEight, QuickBase), resolving escalated time entry issues using established procedures
  • Respond to escalated payroll inquiries from employees, HR, and business leaders in a timely and professional manner, serving as a trusted resource for complex payroll and tax-related questions
  • Support JDE system updates by conducting testing in the test environment, documenting findings, and contributing to special payroll projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency, communicating recommendations to the Team Lead and actively contributing to continuous improvement in payroll operations
  • Serve as an informal knowledge resource for Payroll Administrators — sharing best practices, providing guidance on escalated issues, and supporting team members to build their payroll expertise
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of payroll experience, with demonstrated knowledge of full-cycle payroll processing in a high-volume, multi-jurisdictional environment
  • College diploma or technical certification in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required; a bachelor's degree in Payroll or Accounting is preferred; PCP designation is a strong asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, multi-jurisdictional payroll regulations, and statutory compliance requirements including tax withholding and remittances
  • Hands‑on experience with payroll ERP systems; experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is a significant asset
  • Solid understanding of General Ledger principles and payroll accounting, with demonstrated ability to complete reconciliations and journal entries accurately
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for payroll reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis
  • Professional communication skills with the discretion to handle sensitive payroll and employee information with confidentiality, and the patience to guide and support junior team members
Work Conditions
  • Hybrid role with flexibility to work from home and in the office as business needs require
  • Primarily sedentary, office-based work when on-site, with standard laptop and computer use throughout the day
  • Collaborative team environment with regular interaction across Payroll, Finance, HR, Labour Relations, and business operations leadership
Compensation

$54,800.00 - $75,350.00 This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
