Job summary

Paramount Resources Ltd. is seeking a Senior Operations Foreman to lead the field team in delivering safe, efficient oil and gas production across a diverse asset base, including a processing plant.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership at Senior Foreman/Superintendent or similar.
  • Minimum 15 years of oil and gas field operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of oil & gas fields, facilities and pipelines.
  • Experience in subsurface drilling, production/facilities engineering, asset integrity, risk management, construction and pipelines is an asset.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • SAIT GPO / PFO industry training courses are an asset.
  • Technical diploma or degree related to the oil & gas industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated management, coaching, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of business fundamentals and financial leadership.
  • Self-starter with time management and organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience in emergency response & Incident Commander training.
  • Experience in incident investigations.
  • Strong problem solver and team player with analytical ability.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and company software.
  • In-depth knowledge of upstream oil & gas regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of Paramount Resources’ Integrity programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee field activities and personnel to meet environment, health, safety, integrity and compliance objectives.
  • Consult with field leaders and determine courses of action using independent judgment.
  • Ensure contractual and regulatory requirements are accomplished and policies followed.
  • Provide problem-solving guidance on schedules, materials and coordination tasks.
  • Maintain internal and external relationships and provide leadership to field staff.
  • Support career development of field personnel and promote safety.
  • Keep safety in mind at all times and mitigate hazards in daily operations.
  • Manage budget adherence for area of responsibility with fiscal awareness.
  • Implement corporate initiatives in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with engineering professionals for timely, quality technical work.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and provide timely reporting to Senior Management.

About this Opportunity:

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Senior Operations Foreman will lead the Operations team to deliver safe and efficient production with a focus on environment, health, safety and integrity. This position will oversee a large number of producing assets including a processing plant, across a diverse operating area, driving operational excellence and asset performance.

This position is based in our Fox Creek, Alberta office. The successful candidate will work a 9/80 schedule (Monday – Friday, with every second Friday off) and reside in the Fox Creek or Whitecourt, Alberta area.

Job functions will involve:
  • Oversee all field activities and personnel to ensure that business, environmental, health, safety, integrity and compliance objectives/standards are met
  • Consults with other field leaders as necessary while using independent judgment to determine courses of action
  • Assure business/administrative requirements, with respect to agreements terms and legislative requirements, are being accomplished. Promote adherence to company policies and procedures for all employees
  • Assertive in problem solving and decision making with respect to people, schedules, materials and other general coordination items
  • Maintain active internal/external relationships
  • Provide leadership and assist with career development of field personnel
  • Ability to keep safety in mind at all times. Guide and assist field personnel with identifying and mitigating hazards in order to ensure that projects or day to day operations are being carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Accountable for the adherence to the budget process for their area of responsibility and have a strong fiscal proficiency
  • Ensure corporate initiatives are implemented timely and effectively
  • Engage and work with engineering professionals who are charged with producing timely and quality technical work
  • Prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Provide meaningful reporting to Senior Management in a timely and effective manner
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience as a Senior Foreman/Superintendent, Engineering Manager or other managerial positions
  • Minimum 15 years’ oil and gas field operations experience
  • A full working knowledge and significant experience in operations of oil & gas fields, facilities and pipelines
  • Additional experience in subsurface drilling, production/facilities engineering, asset integrity, risk management, construction and pipelines or a combination of these skills is an asset
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The following would be considered an asset:
  • SAIT GPO / PFO industry training courses
  • A technical secondary diploma or degree related to the oil & gas industry, engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated management, coaching, organizational and interpersonal skills including objective setting, recognition, performance management, performance reviews and organizational design
  • Solid understanding of business fundamentals
  • Proven history of delivering strong financial and operational leadership
  • Self-starter and able to work independently, time management and organizational effectiveness are critical to this position
  • Experience in leading emergency response, emergency response training and Incident Commander training
  • Experience in incident investigations
  • Strong problem solver and planner with organizational and analytical ability
  • Positive attitude and a sense of teamwork
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to learn, adhere and work with all company based software programs and processes
  • In depth knowledge of the upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements
  • Good understanding of Integrity programs and ability to maintain compliance with Paramount Resources’ programs
