Job summary

AltaGas is seeking a Senior Engineer, Operations in Grande Prairie, Alberta, to own asset health, technical risk management, and capital planning. The role partners with field leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across midstream gas processing and associated facilities.

The successful candidate will lead troubleshooting, governance, and technical assurance activities, including MOC oversight and collaboration with Projects to align design reviews with operational needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Other engineering disciplines may be considered with relevant experience, particularly Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering.
• Professional designation as P.Eng., P.L. (Eng.), or P.Tech. (Eng.) registered with APEGA.
• Minimum 10 years of oil and gas industry experience.
• Previous employment directly with an oil and gas company is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain asset performance understanding, design intent, operating constraints, regulatory requirements, reliability concerns, and emerging issues.
• Lead technical troubleshooting and response when equipment performance, process safety barriers, asset integrity, or operating conditions are challenged.
• Maintain visibility of significant technical and operational risks across assigned assets and drive mitigation actions.
• Identify and develop reliability, optimization, and maintenance investment opportunities and support multi-year capital planning.
• Serve as Operations' trusted engineering contact for assigned assets and build relationships with field leadership teams.
• Provide oversight of Management of Change (MOC) and coordinate engineering activities to support safe operations.
• Collaborate with Projects Team for design reviews, HAZOPs, and alignment with operations.
• Provide technical leadership during process safety events and support investigations.
