Job summary

DGA Careers seeks an experienced Senior Commercial Underwriter to support Ontario's growing commercial insurance portfolio. This remote role targets an Ontario-based underwriter with deep technical expertise and broker network development capabilities.

You will evaluate opportunities with strong underwriting fundamentals, manage new and renewal accounts, and collaborate with leadership to expand the province's market presence.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience, with deeper senior-level experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience underwriting risks within the Ontario market.
• Strong commercial property and liability underwriting knowledge.
• Knowledge of the Ontario commercial insurance market and broker community.
• Experience underwriting a diverse range of commercial risks.
• Demonstrated ability to independently assess, price, and structure commercial accounts.
• Strong broker relationship and communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain the required insurance licence within the expected timeframe if not already licensed.

Responsibilities

• Assess, price, negotiate, and structure commercial property and casualty risks in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
• Underwrite a diverse commercial portfolio including property, liability, realty, manufacturing, hospitality, construction and professional lines.
• Manage both new business and renewal accounts.
• Evaluate opportunities originating through broker and business development relationships within Ontario.
• Take ownership of the underwriting process from submission review to binding and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced underwriters.
