Cognizant is seeking a Senior Node.js / TypeScript Engineer to design and deliver scalable, API-driven healthcare payer solutions. You will partner with product owners, architects, and operations to build secure, resilient applications that support claims processing and interoperability.
You will lead the development of REST services using Node.js and TypeScript, implement automated testing and CI/CD, and help optimize data models and contracts for healthcare interoperability.
As a Senior Node.js / TypeScript Engineer , you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, API-driven healthcare payer solutions that support claims processing, interoperability, and digital transformation initiatives. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product owners, architects, operations teams, and healthcare domain stakeholders to build secure, resilient, and high-performing applications.
Design, develop, and enhance enterprise-grade REST API services using TypeScript and Node.js.
Translate complex payer business requirements into scalable technical solutions and service-oriented architectures.
Build structured data models and interface contracts that enable interoperability across healthcare and payer ecosystems.
Implement automated testing, continuous integration practices, and quality engineering standards to ensure application stability and reliability.
Troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize service performance, and deliver sustainable solutions that improve platform resilience

8+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on expertise developing REST API-driven applications using TypeScript and Node.js.
Hands on experience with AWS
Strong healthcare payer domain knowledge, including claims processing, benefit administration, coding standards, and data integrity principles.
Experience designing scalable data models, API contracts, and integration frameworks supporting healthcare interoperability.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, version control systems, and collaborative engineering methodologies.
Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-based environments, and containerized application deployments.
Experience working with large-scale healthcare payer platforms and digital modernization initiatives.
Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, observability tools, and microservices-based application design.
Demonstrated success resolving complex production issues and improving application performance and reliability.
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills across business and technical teams.
Passion for inclusive engineering practices and delivering equitable digital healthcare experiences for diverse member populations.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 , depending on experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, subject to performance and applicable plan terms.
