Job description

As part of our continued expansion, we are on the lookout for a Senior Network Engineer (IC3-G6) to join our growing network engineering team. Based in Montreal, Canada, the successful individual will join a global team spread across Europe, North America, and Asia.

This position focuses on the design, deployment, and ongoing management of a global network infrastructure. It is also key to developing network automation services. The Continent 8 global backbone network spans North America, Europe, and Asia, supporting our Cloud, Network, and Security products and services.

The Role

As a Senior Network Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Participating in planning, configuring, and deploying a highly available network environment, including switches, routers, load balancers, DDoS mitigation devices, and other hardware.
2. Providing technical guidance and recommendations to improve network availability and solve business problems.
3. Researching network products, services, protocols, and standards to support future development.
4. Engaging in technology projects, both internal and customer-facing.
5. Maintaining comprehensive network documentation and operational runbooks for clarity among technical and non-technical stakeholders.
6. Collaborating with software teams to define tools for infrastructure scaling.
7. Implementing and overseeing automated network configurations using tools like Ansible, AWX, and Python scripting.
8. Mentoring junior team members and guiding automation and troubleshooting techniques.
9. Understanding automation in networking to improve operational efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• 10-15 years of experience in network engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of IP networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and experience managing large Service Provider Networks.
• Practical experience with network automation using Ansible and Python.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments alongside traditional networking.
• Ability to handle ambiguous challenges and find technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a global team.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with automation tools like Ansible (including AWX), Python scripting, and YANG data models.
• Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCP, and JNCIE are highly preferred.
• Additional certifications in Automation and DevOps (e.g., DEV-NET) are advantageous.
