Job summary

Apptoza Inc. is seeking an experienced MSSQL Database Administrator to manage, optimize, secure, and support enterprise databases in a primarily Azure-based environment. The role focuses on SQL Server across on-premises and cloud, with emphasis on performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery.

The candidate should have 8+ years of MSSQL experience, strong skills in T-SQL, PowerShell, and Azure CLI, and be comfortable with production incident management and cloud modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of MSSQL Database Administration experience.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server and Azure SQL Database.
• Experience with Always On, HA/DR, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Administer SQL Server across on-premises, Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and Azure VMs.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.
• Manage Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Handle database migrations, upgrades, patching, and cloud modernization.
• Optimize T-SQL, stored procedures, execution plans, and database workloads.
• Implement database security, access controls, encryption, and compliance.
• Automate database administration using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure CLI.
• Handle P1/P2 production incidents, root cause analysis, and resolution.
• Maintain database documentation, monitoring, and operational procedures.
• L3 production support and incident management.
