Markage is looking for a Senior Motion Designer to join our fully remote Canadian team.

This role focuses on creating and leading motion design across brand, campaign, social, and digital experiences. You will develop motion concepts, visual systems, animation, and finished assets that extend brand and creative direction over time. The role combines strong design judgment with hands‑on animation and production discipline.

You will work with design directors, designers, strategists, producers, editors, developers, and client‑service teams. Clear communication, reliable follow‑through, and careful work are expected.

AI‑assisted tools may be used for reference research, storyboard preparation, asset organization, versioning, and production documentation. All AI‑assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, confidentiality, and fit before it is shared or used.

Essential duties:

• Lead motion concepts and animation for brand, campaign, social, digital, and presentation work.
• Translate static design systems into coherent motion principles, transitions, and behaviours.
• Create storyboards, style frames, animatics, motion tests, and finished animation.
• Work with sound, editing, typography, illustration, video, or 3D assets where appropriate.
• Present motion direction clearly and incorporate feedback through structured revisions.
• Prepare final exports, versions, aspect ratios, and platform‑specific deliverables.
• Review motion work for timing, hierarchy, accessibility, brand consistency, and technical quality.
• Guide other designers on motion applications and reusable motion‑system principles.
• Maintain organized project files, source assets, render settings, and final deliverables.

Essential requirements:

• Strong portfolio or reel demonstrating senior‑level motion design and animation.
• Advanced working knowledge of After Effects or comparable motion‑design tools.
• Experience carrying motion work from concept through final delivery.
• Holds a valid Dex Professional Senior Specialist Certification (DEX-PSS) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender, Premiere Pro, sound design, or interactive motion.
• Agency, studio, or multi‑client experience.
• Experience defining motion systems for brands or digital products.
