Job summary

Markage is seeking a Senior Designer for a maternity-cover role to join our fully remote Canadian team. You will lead design workstreams, translate concepts into robust systems, and uphold high production standards across client projects during the fixed-term assignment.

You will collaborate with design directors, strategists, producers, developers, and client-service teams, communicating clearly and delivering high-quality work while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in AI-assisted research

Qualifications

• Senior-level design thinking demonstrated by a strong portfolio.
• Experience owning design workstreams from concept to delivery.
• Advanced proficiency with design tools and production workflows.
• Ability to explain decisions clearly and provide feedback to others.
• Holds a valid Dex Professional Senior Specialist Certification (DEX-PSS) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.

Responsibilities

• Lead significant design workstreams from brief and concept through final delivery.
• Develop strong visual concepts and translate them into clear systems and applications.
• Set a high standard for typography, composition, hierarchy, consistency, and production quality.
• Present design thinking clearly to internal teams and clients when required.
• Guide revisions and resolve design problems without losing the intent of the work.
• Provide practical direction and review for designers working on related assignments.

• Prepare or oversee accurate final files, handoffs, specifications, and implementation materials.

This role focuses on providing senior design leadership and continuity across active client projects during a fixed-term assignment. You will enter established projects, understand existing direction quickly, and maintain design quality across ongoing work. The role requires confidence working independently, adapting to existing systems, and helping teams maintain momentum during the contract period.

You will work with design directors, designers, strategists, producers, developers, and client-service teams. Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and careful work are expected.

AI-assisted tools may be used for research, design exploration, presentation development, production checks, and project documentation. All AI-assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, confidentiality, and fit before it is shared or used.

• Holds a valid Dex Professional Senior Specialist Certification (DEX-PSS) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.

Preferred qualifications:

• Agency, studio, or multi-client experience.
• Experience contributing to design systems, brand systems, or multidisciplinary programs.
• Experience guiding junior or mid-level designers.
