Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior quantitative leader to head the Model Risk Management team. You will oversee underwriting and credit risk validation, while hands-on validating sophisticated ML models and guiding a high-performing team through complex risk assessments.

You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to strengthen the MRM framework, ensure model robustness, and align with regulatory expectations. This is a remote-first, Canada-based role with strong compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in a highly technical role in risk/validation.
• Deep understanding of ML modeling, underwriting, and credit risk.
• Strong Python scripting and SQL data analysis.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, and leading quantitative teams.

Responsibilities

• Sector Leadership & Team Management: Oversee the underwriting and credit risk validation sector.
• Hands-On Model Validation: Execute independent validations of ML models across underwriting/credit risk.
• Technical Review: Evaluate data integrity, model performance, and stability through tests and monitoring.
• Identification & Remediation: Detect weaknesses and track remediation with owners and developers.
• Framework Enhancement: Improve the enterprise-wide Model Risk Management framework with stakeholders.
• Audit & Compliance: Coordinate with Accounting, Internal Controls, and Compliance to meet standards.
