Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the development and coordination of capital cost estimates for mining and mineral processing projects. You will guide teams of discipline estimators and work with schedulers and engineers on diverse, global projects ranging from millions to billions of dollars.

The role requires experience leading large estimates (PEA/FS, sustaining capital) and coordinating multi-discipline scopes, including tailings and water management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Operations Management, Business Management, or related field.
• Mining Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years combined experience in estimating and construction roles.
• Professional certifications such as AACE, RICS, ASPE, PMI, DBIA are assets.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate multi-discipline cost estimates and construction schedules.
• Lead mining studies and program-level estimating efforts (PEA, PFS, FS, execution-stage).
• Develop detailed estimates for mining, process plant, civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, tailings, water management, and site infrastructure scopes.
• Coordinate input parameters for cost estimates and schedules; validate takeoffs and quantities.
• Coordinate and compile information from all estimating disciplines into one cost estimate.
• Prepare basis of cost estimate reports for end users and establish site estimating criteria.
• Interface with management and clients for estimating tasks; travel may be required.
