Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Geologist to join a major mining and exploration operation in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The role focuses on geological assessment, resource estimation, and providing critical geological insights to support mining activities.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in exploration geology, structural interpretation, and resource modeling, with proficiency in Leapfrog, Vulcan, and Surpac, and a strong track record working with JORC/NI 43-101 compliant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
• Minimum 7 years of mine geology, exploration and resource estimation experience.
• Experience with geological mapping, core logging and ore deposit interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping, sampling and core logging for exploration and resource definition.
• Interpret geological data including structural measurements, assays and geophysics to define mineralized zones.
• Develop and maintain geological models using Leapfrog, ioGAS, and Surpac.
• Contribute to estimation of mineral resources and reserves in compliance with reporting codes.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations to provide geological support and optimize sequencing.
• Plan and supervise diamond and RC drilling programs and ensure data quality.
• Perform quality control on geological data and assays.
• Prepare geological reports, cross-sections and plans for stakeholders.
• Stay updated with advances in geological modeling and exploration techniques.
• Mentor junior geologists and contribute to team development.

About the Role

You will be responsible for detailed geological mapping, core logging, data validation, and contributing significantly to the accuracy and reliability of resource models. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in mine geology, exploration, and resource estimation, preferably within the mining industry.
• Proven experience in geological mapping, core logging, and interpretation of various ore deposit types.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics.
• Experience with resource estimation methodologies and reporting codes (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a field-based environment and collaborate with diverse teams.
