Job summary

LAPORTE is seeking an experienced MEP Designer in Toronto, ON to plan, design, and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for building projects. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing engineering and 6-8 years of MEP design experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.

Knowledge of codes and strong collaboration skills are essential; experience in pharmaceutical or food and beverage projects is an asset.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years experience in MEP design
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing engineering or a related field
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing system design
• Familiarity with building codes and regulations
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
• Experience in consulting engineering in pharma or food & beverage industries is an asset

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive MEP design concepts including HVAC, electrical, plumbing
• Use AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM to produce 2D and 3D models and drawings
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other design professionals
• Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers for information and materials
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and resolve design conflicts
• Review contractor drawings and installation methods for compliance
