Job summary

Apotex is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Technician to lead maintenance efforts on production equipment. You will mentor junior technicians, resolve complex service issues with internal customers, and ensure all work complies with CGMPs and SOPs.

The role requires deep knowledge of mechanics, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics, with PLC familiarity valued. Strong leadership and training abilities are essential, as is the capacity to work with minimal supervision and to adapt to shift work,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a similar role in pharma or consumer goods.
• Licensed in one or more trades (Industrial Mechanical, Machinist, Tool & Die, Industrial Electrician).
• Knowledge of mechanics, machine shop practices, electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• GMP knowledge related to pharmaceuticals.
• Quick Change Over techniques and PLC knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to lead, train others, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance activities with Production Technical Coordinators.
• Assist in resolving technical service issues with internal customers (Operations, Quality, Engineering).
• Mentor junior technicians in troubleshooting, repair and rebuild of machinery.
• Ensure work complies with CGMPs, SOPs, and safety standards.
• Recommend equipment design changes in collaboration with engineering.
• Stay updated on company policies and new tech.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Serve as SME for investigations and audits when needed.
• Be part of a team to achieve outcomes.
