Orion Steel Group in Red Deer, Alberta, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for an on-site role. You will lead mechanical project management, design, and technical support across departments to deliver cost-effective solutions.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years’ experience in heavy manufacturing projects, strong collaboration skills, and proficiency in design tools and PLC-driven systems. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with electrical experience preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing projects involving equipment, buildings, machinery, process piping, cooling systems, combustion systems, pneumatics, power distribution, PLCs, drives, and other systems in heavy manufacturing environment; steel experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience bringing large projects to completion by coordinating operating processes, project objectives, and team efforts.
• Electrical experience with knowledge of machinery, fabrication, welding, hydraulics, machining, and piping.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical support and troubleshooting services to maintenance and operations departments.
• Recommending and managing capital projects.
• Staying current with company products and applicable manufacturing processes and technologies.
• Writing project proposals, including business rules, process descriptions, controls, costs and benefits.
• Writing requirement specifications, high level design, and architecture specifications for projects and plant processes.
