Job summary

Equinox Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Calgary to lead the specification, evaluation, procurement, and management of mechanical equipment and packaged systems across diverse oil and gas projects.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, a P.Eng. designation with APEGA, and at least 8 years in the oil and gas sector within an EPCM environment. Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment and excellent collaborative skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation registered with APEGA.
  • Minimum 8 years of oil and gas industry experience.
  • Experience working within an EPCM environment.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment.
  • Experience developing specifications and technical requirements for packaged equipment.
  • Proven ability to technically evaluate packaged and mechanical equipment solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective coordination and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong understanding of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME, API, CSA, ABSA, and other relevant requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement client, industry, and Equinox specifications and standards.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select gas processing equipment and packaged systems, including dehydration packages, compressors, pumps, separators, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Prepare equipment purchase packages, including material requisitions, technical specifications, and equipment datasheets.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations for equipment selection.
  • Review and provide technical feedback on vendor drawings, documents, and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Manage equipment vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate vendor reviews, inspections, and quality surveillance activities.
  • Support procurement activities by providing timely technical evaluations and recommendations.
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure delivery expectations are achieved.
  • Coordinate closely with Process, Piping, Instrumentation, Structural, Electrical, Procurement, and Project Management teams.
  • Contribute to the development and review of P&IDs and other engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions to support integrated project execution.
  • Interface with clients regarding packaged equipment requirements and technical matters.
