Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineering leader to head the mechanical discipline on major mining concentrator projects in Canada's Quebec region. You will guide design, procurement, and interdisciplinary coordination across heavy industrial facilities.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, OIQ membership, and 15+ years of relevant experience, with French fluency and strong English skills. This role is on-site with a focus on technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in mining concentrators, heavy industrial, or bulk solids handling is a major asset.
• Experience as a discipline lead engineer is an asset.
• Excellent command of French and good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the mechanical discipline lead on major projects.
• Act as a technical reference for engineering of mining concentrators and industrial facilities.
• Act as the procurement package lead for mechanical equipment.
• Participate in pre-feasibility, feasibility, and detailed engineering studies.
• Supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications, and technical details.
• Prepare or oversee technical specifications for procurement and installation of equipment.
• Oversee design calculations, particularly for pumps, water/air networks, and piping stresses.
• Supervise the design of tanks, hoppers, chutes, and pump boxes.
• Validate P&IDs and perform technical bid evaluations.
• Supervise shop drawing reviews and the work of technicians and engineers.
• Review and approve design calculations and cost estimates.
• Ensure interdisciplinary coordination.
• Report to the Industrial Mechanical Team Leader.
