Job summary

Bird Construction in Edmonton, Alberta seeks a Senior Mechanical Estimator (Industrial) to lead estimating on large mechanical projects, building relations with clients, suppliers and project teams while delivering detailed cost estimates and guiding proposals to win work.

This role requires 10+ years of mechanical estimating and strong leadership, with experience in AutoCAD, InEight, and Trimble Autobid Mechanical. Mentorship and budget accuracy are key expectations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Estimator.
• 10+ years’ hands-on experience with Mechanical construction projects.
• Leadership experience is a strong asset.
• Experience estimating a full range of project delivery methods (Bid/Tender, IPD, Design‑build) up to $100+ million.
• Engineering degree or college diploma in Engineering/Construction Management.
• PQ S CET or P. Eng designation or mechanical trade designation.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical construction and industry standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD, InEight and Trimble Autobid Mechanical.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, designers and contractors.
• Lead a team of estimators on large industrial estimates.
• Prepare mechanical budgets and cost estimates from sketches or specs.
• Request quotations from suppliers and trades.
• Set up data for estimates in computer programs.
• Review estimates prior to tender closing and assess risks.
• Analyze tender documents and contractual obligations.
• Assist proposals team to build winning client proposals.
• Maintain databases of estimating historicals and provide staff training.
