This is an opportunity for an experienced mechanical estimating professional ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in growing an established ICI estimating division.

The successful candidate will bring strong estimating, leadership, and relationship-building skills, while having the opportunity to develop processes, build a team, and directly influence the division’s growth and profitability.

What You Bring:

10+ years of progressive estimating experience within mechanical contracting, with strong exposure to ICI construction.

• -Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems
• -Demonstrated ability to estimate complex and high-value mechanical construction projects.
• -Strong understanding of construction contracts, tendering, project risk, labour and material pricing, and cost management.
• -Advanced proficiency with Accubid Enterprise, Autobid, or comparable estimating software.
• -Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, scopes of work, construction schedules, and project delivery models.
• -Established relationships within the Ontario ICI construction market would be a significant asset.
• -Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a project both competitive and profitable.
• -Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and leadership skills.

Build & Lead the Estimating Division:

• -Take ownership of establishing and growing the company's Mechanical ICI estimating division.
• -Develop and implement consistent estimating processes, procedures, standards, and best practices.
• -Help define the division's market strategy, target projects, clients, contractors, and opportunities.
• -Establish appropriate estimating resources and build a high-performing estimating team as the workload grows.

Estimating & Pre-Construction:

• -Oversee accurate, complete, competitive, and timely estimates, budgets, tenders, proposals, and quotations.
• -Lead estimates across a variety of contract delivery models
• -Review complex, high-value, and strategic estimates and provide guidance on pricing, methodology, scope, and risk.
• -Establish estimating strategies and ensure appropriate review and approval processes are followed.
• -Ensure estimates are properly documented and transitioned effectively to project operations.
• -Work closely with the vice president, project management, procurement, and senior leadership to ensure estimating assumptions align with execution requirements.
• -Maintain awareness of labour, material, equipment, subcontractor, and market conditions affecting project pricing.

Business Development & Market Growth:

• -Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, consultants, engineers, owners, and other key industry partners.
• -Identify and pursue opportunities that align with the company's capabilities, capacity, and growth strategy.
• -Participate in pre-construction meetings, project interviews, negotiations, and presentations.
• -Help establish the company's reputation and presence within the ICI mechanical construction market.
• -Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities and contribute to the company's overall business development strategy.
• -Monitor market activity and identify emerging opportunities, sectors, and customers.
• -Help establish the division's reputation for being responsive, competitive, technically strong, and easy to work with.

Financial & Operational Leadership:

• -Work with leadership to establish pricing strategies and maintain appropriate gross margin expectations.
• -Contribute to annual business planning, forecasting, staffing requirements, and growth strategies.
• -Continually look for ways to improve estimating accuracy, productivity, profitability, and win rates.
