Job summary

HireLoft Recruitment is partnering with a well-established mechanical contractor in the west GTA to hire an experienced Mechanical Estimator into their construction team. You will own end-to-end bids for HVAC, plumbing and piping on ICI projects, reviewing drawings, issuing RFIs and negotiating subtrades.

Qualifications

• 3+ years mechanical estimating experience with a contractor, consultant, or HVAC/plumbing manufacturer.
• Hands-on with estimating and takeoff software such as AutoBid, QuoteSoft, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Wendes, eTakeoff, PlanSwift or Bluebeam.
• Solid knowledge of Division 21, 22 and 23 scope and familiarity with the Ontario Building Code and CSA/TSSA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare full mechanical takeoffs and bids for HVAC, plumbing and piping scope on ICI projects.
• Review drawings and specs, identify scope gaps, and issue RFIs.
• Source, level and negotiate vendor and subtrade quotations.
• Apply labour units and build competitive, accurate bid packages.
• Write clear scope letters and manage bids through to close.
• Collaborate with project managers and design team on design/build pursuits.

We are partnering with a well-established mechanical contractor in the west GTA to hire an experienced Mechanical Estimator into their construction team.

This is a business that has been building a strong reputation in ICI construction for over two decades, working across design/build and bid-spec projects in the industrial, commercial and institutional space. They have a stable leadership team, a genuinely well-regarded workplace culture, and a construction division that continues to grow.

You would be joining a small estimating group reporting directly to the Director of Construction, with real ownership over the bids you work on.

What you will be doing

• Preparing full mechanical takeoffs and bids for HVAC, plumbing and piping scope on ICI construction projects
• Reviewing drawings and specifications, identifying scope gaps, and issuing RFIs
• Sourcing, levelling and negotiating vendor and subtrade quotations
• Applying labour units and building competitive, accurate bid packages
• Writing clear scope letters and managing bids through to close
• Working alongside project managers and the design team on design/build pursuits

What we are looking for

• 3 or more years of mechanical estimating experience with a mechanical contractor, consultant, or HVAC/plumbing manufacturer
• Hands‑on with estimating and takeoff software such as AutoBid, QuoteSoft, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Wendes, eTakeoff, PlanSwift or Bluebeam
• Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Technician diploma, Mechanical Engineering degree, or a licensed trade background moving into the office
• Solid working knowledge of Division 21, 22 and 23 scope, and familiarity with the Ontario Building Code and applicable CSA and TSSA requirements
• Able to own a bid end to end with limited supervision
• Legally entitled to work in Canada
