Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Edmonton or Calgary teams. You will provide mechanical engineering expertise, ensure compliance with codes and project requirements, and collaborate with design and project teams to deliver on multi-project scopes.

You will mentor junior staff, manage schedules and budgets, and engage with clients and stakeholders to support proposals and project execution. A PE designation and 4+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer designation with APEGA is mandatory.
  • 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience; EP/EPC experience is desirable.
  • Experience in piping design for oil and gas projects in Western Canada.
  • Knowledge of CSA, ASME, API codes and standards is expected.
  • Experience with CAESAR II, NozzlePRO, FE/Pipe or other FEA software is an asset.
  • Experience with vessel/heat exchanger design to ASME/TEMA standards; PVElite/COMPASS experience is a plus.
  • Experience with rotating equipment and CAD viewing tools is beneficial.
  • US PE is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Execute mechanical engineering activities to meet scope, codes, and procedures.
  • Perform calculations, material takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Stamp and issue drawings and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Analyze technical issues with other disciplines and support design teams.
  • Develop work plans and manage schedules and budgets.
  • Review specifications and drawings for conformance to standards.
  • Mentor junior team members and coordinate with the design group.
  • Assist in project closeout, change notices, and documentation.
  • Travel to field for scoping, verification, and construction support.
  • Support proposals, client meetings, and resource planning.
