Job summary

Stantec in Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead a discipline within our Industrial Mechanical Group across metals, pulp & paper, and energy sectors. You will manage projects, oversee EITs, and mentor teammates on complex design challenges.

The role requires a P.Eng with OIQ, 15+ years of consulting experience, strong English communication, and ASP Health & Safety certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer and member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Minimum of 15 years of consulting engineering experience.
• Functional proficiency in English in a professional work environment.
• ASP Construction Health and Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain it). This certification is required for access to industrial facilities and construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage small- to medium-sized projects.
• Serve as Discipline Lead on medium- to large-scale projects.
• Research, design, analyze, and recommend technical solutions.
• Design, calculate, and validate mechanical and industrial systems.
• Perform preliminary sizing and selection of specialized equipment.
• Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and clients.
• Plan and conduct field investigations or oversee their execution.
• Participate in the preparation of service proposals, including effort and schedule estimates and scope definition.
• Supervise the work of technicians, engineers, and Engineers-in-Training (EITs) on projects.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
