Job summary

Ayrton Energy in Calgary, Alberta is building hydrogen storage technology to enable clean energy distribution. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to advance LOHC technology from concept to pilot and toward commercial deployment.

You will design fluid and piping systems, lead mechanical design efforts, and collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing and Tech Dev teams. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 8+ years of fluid systems experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience designing, building and testing fluid systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, piping systems, fluid systems, and industrial equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical and process-related issues in lab, pilot, or industrial environments.
• Experience working with SolidWorks CAD software to produce design and manufacturing drawings including GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design process piping and fluid systems for field deployment of Ayrton Energy’s LOHC technology.
• Mechanical design of lab test equipment to support the technology development team.
• Specify, source, and evaluate mechanical components.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Tech Dev teams to rapidly develop and improve products.
• Perform engineering calculations related to fluid flow, pressure drop, thermal management, and mechanical integrity.
• Generate design documentation including drawings to enable design review and manufacture.
• Work with technicians, suppliers, fabricators, and manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical and fluid system issues.
• Organize system testing, analyze performance data and implement design improvements.
• Ensure systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
• Support hazard reviews, risk assessments, and safe operating procedures.
