AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its Atlantic Canada group with multiple office locations across Canada. The role focuses on design and execution of mechanical building systems for National Defence infrastructure, including energy centres and district energy.

The candidate will lead mechanical teams, coordinate with offices, and pursue new client opportunities. The position requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, P.Eng eligibility, 10+ years of design experience in

• 10+ years of relevant design experience with National Defence projects.
• Experience in selection and specification of mechanical building systems and related site utilities.
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment, managing time, resources, and budget allocations.
• Strong client focus, including business development, marketing, and responding to RFPs.
• Willing to travel within Canada to project sites.
• Ability to obtain CISD Level II (SECRET) clearance.

• Resolve complex design and project execution issues with innovative solutions; apply Project Management principles on own projects and team members.
• Manage mechanical staff resources assigned to projects, mentor development and recruit when needed.
• Provide technical guidance and quality assurance to ensure the adequacy of mechanical engineering work.
• Participate in preparing estimates and proposals and approve estimates for Mechanical Engineering.

Overview

Our Mechanical Engineering Group in Atlantic Canada is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team based in one of our available office locations in either Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto-GTA, Sudbury, Winnipeg, Calgary or Vancouver. In this role you will be responsible for the design and execution of projects with a focus on serving our National Defence Portfolio for upgrade and expansion of buildings and related base infrastructure across Canada. Subject matter expertise in mechanical building systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building automation and sustainable building initiatives will set you apart. Project experience should include training centers, vehicle and fleet maintenance, research laboratories, operational headquarters, personnel accommodation and ancillary facilities. Infrastructure experience with Energy Centre's, district energy distribution, piped site utilities for industrial liquid and gases will be an additional asset. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing clients, coordinating skill sets with other offices and disciplines, and satisfying customer requirements.

Your role

About you

• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with eligible for registration with multiple provinces in Canada.


• 10+ years of relevant design experience a must with significant exposure to National Defence projects. Must have experience in selection and specification of mechanical building system and related site utilities. Working knowledge of all applicable building codes and industry standards.


• Experience in a consulting engineering environment, managing time, resources, and budget allocations.


• Strong client focus, including taking initiatives for Business Development, Marketing, and responding to RFPs.


• Willing to occasionally travel to project sites within Canada.


• Ability to obtain CISD Level II (SECRET) Clearance.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $135,000 - $160,000 annually (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
