Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Canada is seeking an experienced engineer to design nuclear power plant systems, review modification packages, drawings, and vendor specifications.

You will lead project teams, develop cost estimates, and interface with client sites, with a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work three days per week.

Qualifications

• BSME with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a CEAB- or ABET-accredited program
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design of power plants

Responsibilities

• Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants
• Prepare or review functional mechanical drawings and plant system drawings
• Perform engineering analyses and evaluations for plant modifications and operation
• Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
• Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment
• Study and evaluate modification options for operating plants
• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client work scopes
• Interface with clients at offices or plant sites and present engineering work status
• Lead engineering project teams

Job description

Description

You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:

• Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants
• Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems
• Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems
• Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
• Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
• Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes
• Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the clientand make presentations related to engineering tasks and status
• Lead engineering project teams

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Qualifications

We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in Canada for this position.

This position may require access to U.S. export-controlled information. As such, candidates must be a citizen of a country listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

Essential skills and experience:

• BSME with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the power industry
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of power plants

Valued, but Not Required:

• P.Eng license
• Active Ontario Power Generation (OPG) security clearance

Compensation Range

$81,278 - $124,175
