Job summary

Sargent & Lundy, L.L.C. seeks a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to nuclear power plant systems design, including modification packages, drawings, and analyses.

You will prepare specs and procurement documents, evaluate vendor bids, and study modification options to support plant operation. The role offers a hybrid schedule with in-office work 3 days a week and remote two days, plus opportunities to interface with clients and lead project teams.

Qualifications

  • BSME with emphasis in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from CEAB/ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design of power plants.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or review modification packages for operating nuclear power plants.
  • Develop functional mechanical drawings and equipment drawings for plant systems.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation.
  • Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
  • Evaluate vendor bids and studies modifications/options for plant upgrades.
  • Lead engineering project teams and interface with clients at offices/sites.

Job description

Description

You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:

  • Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants
  • Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems
  • Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems
  • Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
  • Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
  • Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes
  • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the clientand make presentations related to engineering tasks and status
  • Lead engineering project teams

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • BSME with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the power industry
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of power plants

Valued, but Not Required:

  • P.Eng license
  • Active Ontario Power Generation (OPG) security clearance

Compensation Range

$81,278 - $124,175
