Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for building consulting in Edmonton, Alberta. You will lead mechanical design across diverse building projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical direction with a focus on growth of the mechanical practice.

You will coordinate with architecture and other disciplines, ensure code compliance, and manage projects from concept through construction documentation and administration.

Qualifications

• P.Eng designation in Alberta or eligible for registration.
• 8+ years of mechanical consulting engineering experience.
• Strong experience within the building design/consulting environment.
• Experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, or mixed-use buildings.
• Strong understanding of applicable Alberta and Canadian building codes and standards.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, or other relevant engineering/design software.
• Strong technical design and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience leading projects and/or mentoring other engineers and designers.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
• A desire to take on greater responsibility and contribute to growth of the mechanical practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design for a variety of building projects (commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, mixed-use).
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
• Develop mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, and related building services.
• Manage projects from concept through design, docs, and construction administration.
• Review drawings, specs, calculations, and reports.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Participate in client meetings to develop long-term relationships.
• Provide technical guidance during construction and handle RFIs and design changes.
• Assist with proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Contribute to business development and growth of the mechanical practice.
• Identify opportunities to improve design standards and capabilities.
• Mentor the next generation of engineers and designers.

What We’re Looking For

• P.Eng. designation in Alberta or eligibility for registration
