Job summary

Giffen Consulting Ltd. invites a Structural Design Contractor to join our engineering team. You will provide mechanical design and drafting support, develop 3D models, and prepare detailed drawings for equipment, piping, and structural steel work.

The role requires 7+ years in mining/heavy industrial projects and familiarity with Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Navisworks. You will collaborate across disciplines to meet client specs and project standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college.
• 7+ years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Designer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects.
• Experience with Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Navisworks is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical design and drafting support
• Develop 3D models using Inventor/SolidWorks and integrate into plant layout models
• Prepare drawings for mechanical equipment, piping, and structural steel platework using AutoCAD/Inventor
• Analyze designs of mechanical equipment, process systems, and mechanical components to guidelines and client specs
• Interpret complex drawings with interfacing civil, structural, and architectural design requirements
• Prepare material take-offs and equipment lists
• Review and quality check project documents prior to issue
• Provide input on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget
• Write and review technical reports, equipment specifications, and construction specifications
• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other stakeholders
