Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Structural Engineering.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
• 8+ years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects.
• Familiar with structural analysis software like BIM, Advanced Steel and RISA (Revit is an asset).
• Familiar with greenfield and brownfield mining projects.
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations for mining and industrial projects.
• Review and design of structures, building envelope systems, and structural components while adhering to guidelines and client specifications.
• Concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs.
• Detailed concrete and steel design, including 3D models and documentation.
• Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget.
• Write and review technical reports, specifications, and construction specifications.
• Coordinate with various departments and disciplines for project implementation, mine design, and inspection.
• Ability and willingness to travel for site visits.
• Present project designs and concepts to clients.
• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be able to:

• Conduct site investigations for mining and industrial projects
• Review and design of structures, building envelope systems, and structural components while adhering to established guidelines and client specifications
• Concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs
• Detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with design team to produce 3D models and associated documentation
• Member sizing with supporting calcuations
• Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget to ensure projects are completed to specification
• Provide cost estimating review and assistance
• Write and review technical reports, specifications, and construction specifications
• Provide coordination with various departments and disciplines as required for project implementation, mine design, and inspection
• Ability and willingness to travel for site visits
• Ability to present project designs and concepts to clients
• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other key stakeholders

• Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada
