Job summary

Aversan Inc. in Cambridge, ON is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will design mechanical systems, perform engineering calculations, and create detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Solid Works.

You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing staff, ensure compliance with ISO standards, and supervise co-op students and junior designers on projects. Minimum five years of design experience required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Strong drafting principles knowledge.
• Experience designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
• Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical devices.
• Analytical skills for engineering calculations.
• Attention to detail for reviewing drawings and documentation.
• Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and oversee mechanical systems and components.
• Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs.
• Create working and detail drawings, and BOMs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (OSHA, CE).
• Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, and hardness.
• Liaise with customers, staff, and vendors for information and specs.
• Supervise co-op students and junior designers on projects.
• Communicate time estimates and resource needs for tasks.
• Oversee design changes and documentation updates.
