Job description

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Location: On-site Arc’One Manufacturing

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX

As a Senior Mechanic, you will play a key technical role supporting specialized manufacturing equipment and helping shape how maintenance capability continues to develop at ARC’TERYX.

This is a hands-on position where you will work on complex equipment problems, preventive maintenance, repairs, installations and technical improvements, while also taking on broader responsibility for training, technical standards and team development.

You will also collaborate directly with Engineering on new equipment, equipment modifications, manufacturing applications and technical improvements, bringing practical maintenance knowledge into the process early.

As our manufacturing technology continues to evolve, you will have opportunities to support new equipment, automation, reliability improvements, equipment standardization and more advanced maintenance practices.

Meet Your Future Team

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be part of the broader Maintenance team supporting both Manufacturing and Distribution operations at ARC’TERYX. Your primary focus will be Manufacturing, working alongside mechanics and maintenance technicians to keep specialized production equipment safe, reliable and available. You will also work closely with Production, Engineering, Design and other internal teams where specialized equipment knowledge or technical support is required.

  • Lead advanced troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of production machinery, tooling and specialized manufacturing equipment, including industrial sewing, automated pressing and lamination, pattern sewing, bartack and embroidery systems.
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex or recurring equipment problems, supporting root cause investigation and long-term corrective actions.
  • Develop, evolve and execute the Maintenance training program, including onboarding, equipment-specific training, troubleshooting methods and hands-on development for the maintenance team.
  • Provide day-to-day technical coaching and mentorship to mechanics and maintenance technicians, supporting difficult repairs and building team capability.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering on new equipment, equipment modifications, manufacturing applications, machine capability, maintainability and technical improvements.
  • Support equipment installation, setup, calibration, validation, commissioning and safe return-to-service, while providing technical guidance to Production and other equipment users where required.
  • Lead the technical development and review of maintenance SOPs, work instructions, machine standards, setup information and training material.
  • Identify recurring failures and opportunities to improve preventive maintenance, repair methods, machine performance and overall equipment reliability.
  • Support critical spare-parts strategy and work directly with OEMs, manufacturers and suppliers to resolve technical, parts, compatibility and service issues.
  • Provide technical input into equipment, tooling, spare-parts and maintenance purchasing decisions where specialized knowledge is required.
  • Provide specialized technical support across Arc’teryx, including Manufacturing, Design, Warranty, store repair operations and other locations, both on-site and remotely.
  • Supporting the introduction of new manufacturing technologies, automation and specialized equipment across ARC’TERYX operations.
  • Taking a larger technical role in equipment selection, design review, installation, commissioning and production ramp-up.
  • Leading reliability and equipment improvement projects focused on reducing repeat failures, improving maintainability and increasing equipment performance.
  • Developing more advanced preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance practices using equipment history, failure data and machine condition.
  • Engineering degree, technical diploma, or 6+ years of relevant equipment maintenance experience; an equivalent combination of education, technical training and hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Strong hands-on experience with industrial sewing, automated pressing/lamination, programmable and other specialized manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment problems using strong mechanical knowledge, practical troubleshooting and sound technical judgement.
  • Experience coaching, training or mentoring mechanics, technicians or other technical employees.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain technical issues clearly and work effectively with Production, Engineering, OEMs and suppliers.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of technical problems, working independently and supporting the wider maintenance team when priorities change.
  • Experience working in a specialized or high-mix manufacturing environment is preferred.
