Job summary

GEMTEC Consulting Engineers and Scientists Limited. is seeking a Senior Marine Structural Engineer to advance your career and lead critical civil projects across Atlantic Canada. This role offers hybrid options and a culture of ownership, mentorship, and growth within a multidisciplinary firm.

The successful candidate will bring 12+ years in civil engineering with marine expertise, P.Eng. eligibility, strong communication, and a track record in delivering on schedule and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in civil engineering including marine structures.
  • Eligible to register or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Atlantic provinces.
  • Proven ability to manage projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering designs for civil infrastructure projects (ports, harbours and bridges).
  • Working with diverse teams of discipline managers, engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Managing projects and being responsible for completion on schedule and financial performance.
  • Acting as a technical resource and as a mentor to junior/intermediate staff.
  • Writing, compiling and reviewing technical reports.
  • Preparing fee proposals.
  • Being a member of site visit teams, gathering information as required to complement design activities.
  • Maintaining quality throughout a project and implementing improvements when determined.
  • Preparing regular project summary reports.
  • Encouraging growth within the group and increasing the general knowledge base throughout the company.
  • Developing and sustaining long‑lasting business relationships with clients.
  • Identifying and mitigating potential hazards in the field or onsite, promoting a safe working environment.

Are you an experienced Marine Structural Engineer looking to progress your career? We're looking for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer to join our growing team. We are open to filling this position in any of our Atlantic Canada offices including Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Grand Falls, Bathurst, Halifax or St. John’s.

A typical day on the job might look like:

Your qualifications and what you bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited University.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed to convey technical ideas clearly.
  • Eligibility to register or currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with one or more of the Atlantic provinces.
  • Proven ability to manage projects.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license.
