Job summary

Vard Marine Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, seeks an experienced Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to lead design reviews and supervise engineers on complex ship projects.

You will review electrical and control systems, support FAT, FMEA, commissioning, and liaise with clients to deliver on time and within budget. A PE designation and 10+ years of industry experience are required, with strong technical writing and proposal development skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer designation is required.
• 10+ years of post-graduation experience in industry.
• Fluent in written and verbal English with excellent communication and technical writing skills.
• Experienced with electrical and control systems on ships including generators and distribution.
• Familiar with FAT, FMEA, audits, ship commissioning and start-up.
• Experience in proposal writing and development.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review concept and detail design of ship electrical and control systems.
• Perform and review equipment and installation specifications.
• Perform and review testing, commissioning procedures.
• Review documents to Classification Societies and respond to their queries.
• Review supplier documents and comment.
• Supervise engineers and designers including training, mentoring and assigning tasks.
• Perform design checks and reviews to meet quality control and assurance requirements.
• May perform the role of Project Manager within larger projects.
