Senior Manager, Tax Process Transformation

The Tax Process Transformation Senior Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the intersection of tax functions and technology solutions for Global Taxation. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing and embedding optimized global tax reporting processes, primarily using the Longview Tax Provisioning tool. The use of this technology will enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and compliance of tax operations for both the income tax and indirect tax functions, ensuring that tax processes are streamlined and up to date with the latest technological advancements.

• Lead the development and implementation of tax technology strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Assess and recommend new technologies that can improve tax compliance, reporting, and operational efficiency.
• Manage cross-functional teams to identify, design, develop, and implement tax technology solutions in Canada and potentially other regions.

2. Tax Compliance & Reporting Systems

• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of tax compliance software and reporting tools.

• Ensure that tax reporting processes (e.g., VAT/GST, income tax, transfer pricing) are automated and compliant with local and global regulations.

• Support of the calculation and filing of the Notional Input Tax Credits relating to the SCENE loyalty program

• Continuously monitor and improve the technology used for tax reporting to reduce manual efforts and increase accuracy.

• Automating analysis and tracking of indirect taxes at a transactional level across Canada.

• Creation of interactive visualizations and dashboards to assist in detecting potential risk and opportunities.

3. Data Management & Automation

• Manage data integration processes between various systems (e.g., ERP, financial systems) to ensure accurate and timely tax data collection.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual interventions in tax processes.
• Leverage data analytics and reporting tools to improve tax decision-making.

4. Project Management

• Lead and oversee tax technology projects from inception to implementation, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and objectives.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to deliver tax technology solutions on time and within scope.
• Manage vendors and third-party service providers in the context of tax technology solutions.

5. Tax System Support & Maintenance
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for tax-related systems, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
• Develop and maintain documentation for tax technology systems, processes, and procedures.

6. Collaboration & Training
• Work closely with internal tax teams (e.g., indirect tax, transfer pricing, income tax) to understand their current process, technology needs and develop solutions.
• Train tax department staff on new systems, tools, and processes to maximize the effective use of tax technology solutions.
• Foster collaboration between IT, finance, and tax departments to ensure seamless operation of tax technology initiatives.

• Ensure that tax technology systems adhere to data privacy and security regulations.
• Identify and manage risks related to the implementation and use of tax technology systems.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA is a plus).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax technology, tax compliance, or IT with a focus on tax processes.
• Strong knowledge of tax compliance and reporting processes, including familiarity with global tax regulations.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) and tax technology platforms (e.g., Longview).
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Proficient in data management, automation tools, and reporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across various departments.
• Familiarity with artificial intelligence or machine learning applications in tax would be an asset but not required.
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP) or relevant training would be helpful but not required.
