Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Cloud Cost Management)

Remote Canada

The Infrastructure team’s mission is to deliver customer impact by partnering with engineers to build reliable and fast financial products. We own the platforms, tools, and services that power every customer transaction and facilitate every production change. We enable faster development for engineers, higher reliability to our customers, and lower costs to the business. We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineering leader for our growing Cloud Cost Management team.

What you’ll do

1. Develop frameworks, systems, and tools to create a culture of ownership and accountability for infrastructure costs.
2. Collaborate with Finance and Engineering leadership to define and meet ambitious financial targets, ensuring Affirm's scalable and efficient growth.
3. Lead technical decisions, projects, and roadmaps within the Infrastructure team, shaping Affirm’s strategy for managing our multi-million dollar annual spend.
4. Drive business and engineering metrics while promoting a culture of reliability, security, and productivity.
5. Lead a team of engineers with empathy while fostering a high-performance, ownership-driven & inclusive culture.
6. Collaborate with tech leads, program managers, and product managers on tools, architecture, planning, and delivery of multiple concurrent projects.
7. Work across the engineering organization and with internal and external partners.
8. Provide leadership and growth opportunities to team members, mentor engineers, recruit, and represent Affirm hiring brands.
9. Guide, tutor, and aid in the professional growth of junior and senior engineers within the team.

What we look for

1. Excellent leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
2. 10+ years of experience in managing multiple diverse and inclusive teams and delivering large cross-functional technical programs.
3. Proven track record in stakeholder management, ownership, and successful delivery.
4. Expertise in managing large-scale, geographically distributed compute and data processing systems.
5. Expertise in scaling technologies like Kubernetes, Redis, MySQL, and Kafka, in cloud providers like AWS.
6. Capable of mentorship, cross-functional program execution, and individual contribution.
7. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a growth mindset.
8. Deep experience in cloud infrastructure and a passion for leading technical teams and contributing to Open Source solutions.

This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Base Pay Grade- R

Equity Grade- 8

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.) In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

CAN base pay range per year: $206,000 - $256,000 CAD

Location: Remote - Canada
